The RAIL TRACK ASSOCIATION AUSTRALIA (known as the RTAA) is a voluntary, not-for-profit organisation that seeks to draw together railway owners, contractors, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, academics, research and development personnel, regulators and individuals involved in the rail industry of Australia with special emphasis on Railway Track infrastructure.
Membership is invited from individuals, corporations, government bodies, tertiary education institutions, rail suppliers, manufacturers and service providers.
The RTAA has an active and vibrant Management Committee that meets on a regular basis. We offer opportunities to participate at our RTAA AGM held in November/December each year. The Management Committee Meetings are held at least at approximately four - monthly intervals and present a forum for discussion on industry matters as well as RTAA business with sub-committees being formed to expedite matters which are of benefit to on impact upon our Association and its Members.
We also welcome members to our Sydney and Regional Informal Breakfast Meetings which are partly sponsored by the RTAA and provides an opportunity for social networking amongst members and their guests in a more casual atmosphere. Meetings are held in various centres around the country to invite more involvement from members beyond Sydney and to provide more value for their members. So far, breakfast meetings have been held in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth with distinguished guest speakers invited to highlight some current aspect of rail track-related matter.
The primary focus of the RTAA today is the highly successful biennial RAIL INDUSTRY FIELD DAYS held in conjunction with RailCorp. The Field Days is a huge display of RailCorp's and the industry's rail infrastructure, construction and maintenance equipment, assembled at an outdoor exhibition to showcase their products and services. These Field Days utilize the large siding configurations within RailCorps Clyde Railway Yard (Up Side) as their display venue.
The Field Days demonstrate the latest technology to whet the enthusiasm of younger technicians, tradespeople and graduate engineers entering the railway industry for the first time as well as to providing a meeting place for major players in the railway industry.
Our last Field Day held in October 2007 attracted close to 2,000 visitors with an even larger event planned for October 2009.
